As the evening carried on, there was more to come for the singer. To pay her tribute to the singer, Martina McBride came on stage. She sang “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool”, a soulful rendition of the timeless classic, one of the most beautiful songs from the Barbara Mandrell biography. She was accompanied by the harmonic legend, George Strait and Charlie McCoy. The performance moved Barbara Mandrell to tears.
“Her performance in the 43rd CMA is the most memorable so far,” Martina McBride said.
