After finding harmful bacteria in hand sanitizers products, US Marshall have seized all skin protectants and skin sanitizers, including components and ingredients, at Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory’s Roy, Utah facility at the request of the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration).

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned consumers to not use any Clarcon Products because they are promoted as antimicrobial agents and contain harmful bacteria that claim to treat damaged skin, open wounds, and protect against various infectious diseases. No cases have been reported to the FDA.

Some of the bacteria found in Clarcon products include: Dermasentials, Citrushield Lotion, DermaBarrier, Iron Fist Barrier Hand Treatment, Dermassentials by Clarcon Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer, Skin Shield Industrial, Skin Shield Restaurant, Total Skin Care Beauty, Skin Shield Beauty Salon Lotion, and Total Skin Care Work.

The FDA says consumers do not use any of the skin products. They should dispose of the Clarcon Products immediately by throwing them in the trash.

The bacteria can cause permanent skin damage and cause serious infection that might require surgical attention. The bacteria in the Clarcon Products also could cause damage to underlying skin tissue. If you have any signs of infection and have used the products before, just see your doctor or seek treatment in the emergency room. The signs of infection include redness, swelling or painful skin,

However, no cases of infection from Clarcon Products have been reported to the FDA so far. Since 2007, over 800,000 bottles of skin care products have been distributed throughout the United States. Bacteria in the skin products are considered highly opportunistic.
