Diabetic Ketoacidosis is when your blood sugar levels are extremely high and insulin levels are low. In full of definition, Diabetic Ketoacidosis is a state the body falls in when there is too little insulin in the body to break down sugar in the body and have it enter cells for energy.
As the coroner news released today, Socialite Casey Johnson’s cause of death was after slipping in a diabetic coma after her body went into diabetic ketoacidosis. Johnson, 30, was an heiress to the the Johnson & Johnson fortune and was the daughter of Woody Johnson, owner of the NFL team the Jets.
Casey Johnson was a Hollywood socialite who was seeking fame but never found it. She battled drug and alcohol addictions for years. In 2007 Casey adopted a baby from Kazakhstan and named her “Ava”. Casey seemed like a sweet girl who had lots of demons. Unfortunately, the fame she sought out found her only in death. When Diabetic Ketoacidosis patient is in too little insulin in the body, the body starts to break down fat for energy, and the person can fall into a coma.
