Erica Rhodes, an American Idol contestant is a former “Barney” kid. But this isn’t a label that she wants to be branded by anymore. Erica used to be on “Barney and Friends“, but she’s all grown up now!

At the auditions in Dallas, She resurfaced wearing a somewhat shocking outfit, which we doubt the purple dinosaur would even recognize her in. And the judges were surprised when the former child actress showed up to the audition dressed from head to toe in dominatrix garb, as she wielded a whip.

The judges were even more surprised when she belted out a fearless rendition of En Vogue’s “Free Your Mind”. We like that Erica Rhodes wants to show that she’s grown up since being on Barney. She explained the reason behind wearing the interesting get-up, saying: “I want people to know that Barney kids grow up.”

However, the judges unanimously agreed that her performance was good enough to let her through. “I do like people who make an effort. You’ve gone from the kids thing to this. It takes guts,“ Simon Cowell said. And Randy Jackson said, “I like her. I’m going to say yes.”

“I think you might actually do really well. I say yes,” commented by Neil Patrick Harris. And the last is Kara Dioguardi said, “It’s really rare that someone comes in here, and their like you know, I’m just going to do my thing this is who I am. Here it comes. And I really like that about you.”
