Katrina Lee, 23 years old, a X-Factor contestant, had laser surgery on her face, liposuction, dental work and hired a personal trainer to lose two stone to make it past the initial auditions this summer.

We knew that Simon Cowell wasn’t the nicest of people but now it turns out that he drove an X-Factor contestant into having plastic surgery.

Five years ago, Katrina Lee appeared on X-Factor Contest, the English version of the show and was told by Cowell that he “wished I could put that voice in someone else’s body”. Katrina Lee was, even before Cowell said this, somewhat shy and reserved and of course after such comments was devastated.

“What happened to me the last time nearly tipped me over the edge, it was terrible. I came face-to -face with Simon Cowell and told him that his comments had nearly wrecked my life.” He told me, “That’s not a nice thing I said”.

So, the Belfast-born shop worker, rather than simply accept defeat she went off and did something about it. Desperate to impress at the Glasgow auditions this year, She had laser surgery on her face, got her teeth fixed, had liposuction and hired a personal trainer so that she could lose nearly 30 lbs. She also dyed her blond hair bright red for the audition, just to make sure she stood out from the crowd.

And her rendition of Nothing Compares 2 U, originally by Sinead O’Connor, wowed the judges and they put her through to boot camp.
