Preliminary witness reports as well as authorities have stated that as many as 100 people might have been injured and 2 killed when a massive explosion, which some even mistook for an earthquake, blew up a power plant being built on the Connecticut River. The Middletown explosion occured in the southern section of the town at about 11 AM on Sunday.

The blast was heard from as far as ten miles out, and many residents or those nearby reported that it felt like an earthquake was happening. The Kleen Energy Systems plant was recently under construction, and is located on the bank of the Connecticut River.
